AURA 6
For Big Mountain Lines.

Versatile high performance, for advanced pilots.

  • New Inlet Position
  • MonoChamber design improves start behavior
  • Improved Speed & Glide
  • Even better flare power & high-AoA flight
DETAILS

There are several suits in the "Advanced WS BASE" category -- the AURA series stands out as the most versatile.

While the Corvid series is all about short starts and ease of use, and the CR+ variants are focused on maximum surface area and glide, the AURA series is the ultimate all-rounder.

The new A6 is an incremental evolution of the A5. After over a year of testing inlet type and positioning, we have arrived at a new location and a new slightly lower drag inlet design. This suit is not a revolution vs the A5, but there is a measurable performance improvement as a result of the inlet change. All other design aspects remain the same as the A5.

The AURA series is for pilots who have at least two seasons of WS BASE experience and fly at an advanced level in skydive and BASE. The AURA excels in big mountain lines and delivers class-leading speed, glide, and flare power.

FEATURES

NEW INLET DESIGN & POSITION

After many A6 prototypes we have arrived at a lower profile traditional scoop inlet which has a smaller drag profile. The new lower arm wing position gives the best results at the widest range of AoAs, with the desirable side effect of a less physical feel in the arm wing.

defaultImage

SEAMLESS LEADING EDGE

Our proprietary leading edge Glide Skin now wraps more of the forward wing chord for reduced drag at the most critical point of the airfoil.

defaultImage

CUSTOM INTERNAL PRESSURE

All of our suits allow you to choose the amount of internal pressure in the arm wings. Choose from full pressure for maximum performance, or reduce it for easier maneuvering in acro / freestyle flight.

defaultImage

AIRFOIL CROSS SECTION

Designed for Performance or Freestyle, the removable airfoil cross section adds glide and speed performance and increases agility and range in any suit that it is added to. More information on leading edge foam.

INNIE-OUTIE

Back by popular demand, the Innie-Outie system (introduced by SQRL in 2012) allows you to place your BASE harness inside the suit for reduced drag and increased comfort, or leave it outside the suit for skydive training.

EVOLV TRAX RUBBER BASE SOLE

The new TRAX Super Sticky BASE Sole has been developed in cooperation with Evolv, a leading climbing shoe manufacturer. The tread pattern is designed specifically for exit force traction, and the rubber is sticky in all conditions: wet, dry, warm, and cold. This mold is the only custom wingsuit sole ever created and is the highest performance option available.

MASSIVE LEG WING POCKET

The new leg wing pocket is the full width of the end cell, has zip closure, and is ideal for the stowage of hiking poles, ropes, and other equipment.

AIRTIGHT CONSTRUCTION

All of our suits are built to the most exacting specifications, and tested for airtight symmetry in our production facility at multiple points along the construction process.

MATERIALS

MAIN SURFACES

Our main surface fabric is a 210D Rip-stop, with low stretch and an ideal rigidity-to-comfort ratio. Its balance of weight / durability, along with mechanical stability and tear strength, makes it the perfect mid-weight material for wingsuits.

LEADING EDGE MATERIALS

GlideSkin is an aerodynamic and wrinkle-resistant material that features a fine grain that is aligned with the relative wind.

INTERNAL RIBS

All ribs are constructed from lightweight sail cloth, chosen for its ideal stability-to-weight ratio.

ZIPPERS

SQRL wingsuits are constructed with the strongest and highest quality zippers available. Locking YKK 10C zips are used on the main body, harness-interface, and arm sections of every suit we make.

REVIEWS

"Nice work on this one. This thing is very, very exciting. Comfortable to fly and I would say even has more ease of handling than its predecessors. I feel like I am locked in a broad arrowhead in the Aura 5. Precision and speed is what she does best. My new mantra is “speed is lift, lift is range, and range is possibility”. I’m stoked to see what’s possible with this weapon. I can definitely tell that you have trimmed the fat – everything that I felt could be holding the A4 back is completely gone with the A5. I am still very much on rails in it, but I feel more comfortable asking it to slip both into a steeper dive and make harder turns. The flare is more comfortable and seems to fly up the hill without feeling the energy lessen. The inflation and rigidity is rock solid, but is manageable and doesn’t feel cumbersome. It has a bit more in the wings on the reach initially but as you get closer to the PC it’s dreamy. I am very excited to fly this in the BASE environment and put it exactly where I want it. Nice work."

"What a machine! Achieved some pretty insane glide in good thermic conditions while maintaining great speed. The suit feels very well balanced and is extremely agile and versatile at steep angles. Found it relatively easy to get good short start performance. With a low stall speed the suit has an incredible speed range and its improved efficiency shows at flare time! I could easily reach the risers fully zipped up to apply riser control through the canopy openings. The mono chamber results in faster tail inflation & is likely responsible for some of the improved start arc performance.. oh and it flies really well on its back!"

"As a long time AURA user (almost 10 years!), I have been keen on the small things that make a BASE suit right. Short start arc performance, easy pull access, high glide performance, and steep dive ability have been the cornerstones of the AURA. New exits in the US have required a different planform with the CORVID due to technical landing areas and divergent glide paths. However, the AURA still provides the short start arc performance with the best possible performance available without sacrificing too much ease of use.

The Mono chamber is a serious game changer in the BASE world. The even pressurization through the start arc is felt on every jump. Sub-terminal turns are made even easier for those looking for that sort of thing.

I'm glad we have the AURA to be a suit for those looking for accessible performance in the BASE world, while the CORVID is for those who need the best possible margins for opening new exits in the backcountry and beyond."

"Testing the A5, I can see that the range of speed is bigger, and I can fly my A5 at a better glide than my A4. I send you a video where you can see how I was flying with glide at lower speed, the suit is very comfortable at max glide just the way it is in a steep dive. I think any experienced pilot will feel super good with this suit. Congrats for the slider i really like it, openings were very smooth, very smart the 6 grommets with control lines separate, I love it."

"Holy smokes. What a suit!! Coming from primarily BASE jumping the C-race for the last few years, I kind of forgot just how good the Aura series truly is.

The starts are incredible! I’ve had a few jumps now that have been the best that I’ve ever had, in terms of start performance. And I’m not a short start guy. I’m sure in truly capable hands it would do just astounding things.

The glide is accessible and high, but doesn’t require too much physical effort. The pitch tuning feels centered right around my stomach, and feels like it is happy flying down the steepest of lines, or to the furthest of landing areas.

Deployments are simple, moderate arm wing pressure allows easy BOC access, and the RAD section on the leading edge allows for truly easy heading corrections after opening.

This is everything I was hoping the Aura5 would be, I could not be happier, thank you guys so much, absolutely loving it!"

"I’m just back from a month playing in the mighty Dolomites. It is one thing if Vincent "Veush" Cotte says "it's a BOMB" about the A5 because first he is one of the most skilled and dedicated Jumpers I've ever met and second he is sponsored which means one could argue that he has to say that. It is another thing if an ordinary jumper like me says the same.

One of the most demanding goals in developing a new suit in the top range, could be to create a product that enables the PRO athlete to fly it with maximum power, agility and radness but on the other hand fit it with handling characteristics that can be easily understood and accessed by AMATEUR athletes.

I'm not a reference in Wingsuit flying but with the experience of 46 years of hang gliding and 34 years of paragliding I claim the right to judge if a product flies well and handles balanced.

The AURA 5 fulfills all of that. I've done 30 base jumps on it so far and from my amateur point of view i agree with Vincent’s opinion without a doubt: It's a BOMB "

"I've been flying the AURA series for 9 years now. I've owned the A2, A3 and now the A5. Seeing and feeling the design changes in each suit has been awesome to witness. The Aura 5 is obviously the best iteration of an incredible line of suits, and for a few reasons. The mono chamber design is confidence inspiring, especially during sub-terminal flight and inflation. The equal pressurization is noticeable over the previous generation of suits and this makes BASE jumping a whole lot nicer. The ability to dive the suit while comfortably holding an anhedral wingsuit configuration has drastically improved from previous Aura's and this makes flying the suit a whole lot more fun, in the BASE environment as well as Skydiving. Positive gains are seen in speed and flare power as well. Perhaps the best thing about flying the new Aura 5 is that with all the gains in power, speed, dive and maneuverability - it's actually easier to fly than previous gen suits. If you're after a high performing BASE jumping wingsuit that's confidence inspiring on the exit and buttery to fly > A5 for the win. "
